Boaky's Buddy

Boakys Buddy 800X550

Monday 20 May, 2019

Meet Ryan Lane-Ellis.

The 12-year-old cancer survivor was named ‘Boaky’s Buddy’ and after training with the Port Adelaide Football Club he then ran out with the boys in Round 9's clash against the Gold Coast Suns.

Ryan first met Travis Boak on his first day in hospital when he was diagnosed with Leukaemia at the age of four, back in April 2011. The huge football fan even insisted on taking his footy boots with him to the hospital when the ambulance first arrived at his home in the Barossa Valley.

Today, Ryan is six years cancer-free; he loves playing footy for the Tanunda Football Club; and aspires to be an AFL player, just like his hero Travis Boak.

By giving Ryan this amazing experience to be 'Boaky's Buddy' for the day, it was an absolute dream come true for him!

This day would not have been possible without the continued support of Travis Boak and the Port Adelaide Football Club. Even greater, was seeing Power fans throw their support behind Ryan by donating to us, or stopping by our merchandise tent, you have truly made a difference and for that we are very grateful.

It's not too late to donate. Game Day fans can show their support by giving generously to help hundreds of families just like Ryan's. Every dollar makes a difference.
