How to Support Children with Cancer Without a Big Event

You don't need to organise a major fundraiser, run an event or raise thousands of dollars to make a difference to children with cancer, and their families. There are plenty of simple ways to show your support, whether you're an individual, workplace, school or community group.

Every donation, conversation, act of kindness and hour of volunteering can help the Childhood Cancer Association provide practical support to families when they need it most.

Why your support, however small, matters

For families facing childhood cancer, practical support can make a real difference. Your support helps us provide services that families can access throughout their child's cancer journey – from diagnosis and treatment through to survivorship or through grief and loss.

5 simple ways to support children with cancer

There are many ways to support children with cancer without taking on the challenge of organising a large fundraising event. Choose something that feels achievable for you – even a small action can help connect more people with us and the practical support we provide to hundreds of families every year.

1. Make a donation

A one-off donation, no matter the amount, helps us continue providing free practical and emotional support to children with cancer, and their families. You can also choose to make a regular donation to provide ongoing support throughout the year.

    2. Shop for a cause

You can support us by purchasing merchandise, gifts or other products where a portion of the proceeds supports our work. It's an easy way to contribute while choosing something you were already planning to buy.

      3. Share our story

Sometimes the simplest way to help is to tell someone else about the Childhood Cancer Association. Follow us on social media, share our posts or talk to your friends, family and colleagues about the support available to families facing childhood cancer.

Follow CCA on Facebook, Instagram or LinkedIn.

        4. Volunteer your time

We rely on volunteers to help with events, fundraising activities and other important tasks. Whether you have a few hours to spare or would like to become involved more regularly, your time can help us do more for families.

          5. Support a fundraising campaign

You don't have to create your own fundraiser or event. You can take part in an existing campaign, challenge or event, or support someone who is already fundraising for us.

            Schools

Schools can get involved through fundraising, awareness activities, gold-themed events or other ideas that bring students and their families together to support children with cancer – children who are often too unwell to attend school themselves.

            Community

Community groups, sporting clubs and local organisations can fundraise, volunteer or support a CCA campaign. You can create your own initiative or get involved with something that is already happening.
