Grief & Loss Support Groups

We have a range of free group-based supports facilitated by our psychologists, available to families to assist them with the grieving process.

Bereaved Parents Group

The death of a child is perhaps the most difficult life experience a parent can face. Parents and caregivers report that it can sometimes be difficult to discuss how they are feeling or coping after the loss of a child with family members, friends and people from their broader social networks.

Attending the Bereaved Parents Group may help bereaved parents to feel less alone or isolated. It may help them to gain a better understanding of the grieving process and the challenges they may be experiencing, and learn strategies that might help in adjusting to a ‘new normal.’

Bereaved Grandparents Group

When a grandparent loses a grandchild to cancer, they are faced with the difficult situation of coping with their own grief while supporting and assisting their child and other family members.

The Bereaved Grandparents Group is an informal morning tea session facilitated by our psychologists.
