Edge Church gives $120,000 for hospital visitation program

The Childhood Cancer Association – South Australia’s key childhood cancer support organisation, has just received $120,000 from Edge Church to support the hospital visitation program for an entire year,as well as host the annual Christmas Fair for families supported by the Association.

These funds were raised through their Ride for Hope event, held earlier this year, where they raised more than $500,000 – of which 100% has been given to local and international charities. Going forward, Ride to Hope will be known as Run to R+E+D.

The Association’s trained professionals conduct daily visits to families in the Women's and Children's Hospital. At present the Association is supporting more than 400 families affected by childhood cancer, and the hospital visitation program is just one of 30+ support services offered to families.

As a fully self-funded organisation, the Association relies heavily on the community to enable it to deliver these services. Edge Church has been a major partner of the organisation since 2009 and has provided support valued at more than $1 million to the Association in that time. This includes the major renovation of our four Michael Rice Units (housing country families) in 2010, and an even bigger renovation of our office (to make it purpose built for our families and service delivery) in 2011.
