Our ambassadors play a really important role to help raise awareness and funds for the work we do helping children with cancer and their families.
We’ve just introduced a new Junior Ambassador Program and are delighted to welcome Tara Knight and Ed Sach as our inaugural young ambassadors.
At age six, Tara was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia. Conquering cancer was a real struggle for Tara, however she feels it is one of her greatest achievements. During and after chemotherapy Tara and her family were fortunate enough to have the support of the Childhood Cancer Association.
Ed was diagnosed with Ewing’s Sarcoma (a rare form of bone cancer) when he was 17. Treatment was extremely aggressive and he has no doubt the support provided by the Childhood Cancer Association is still a fundamental part of his well-being. The support provided to his mum during this time was also a massive relief to him while he underwent treatment.
The Junior Ambassador program has been designed for young adults under 26 with opportunities to represent the Association, assist with fundraising initiatives and inspire community groups. The program also gives junior ambassadors the chance to attend mentoring sessions with our other ambassadors, develop their public speaking skills and increase their social and professional networks.
Be sure to say hi to Ed & Tara when you spot them at an upcoming event!
