SA Produce proves fruitful

Working with Penny Reidy and the team at Pick a Local, Pick SA (SA Produce Market) proved very fruitful as we were invited to be the charity recipient at both the local Strawberry and Cherry Season launches in November and December 2020.

The SA Strawberry Season launch event was hosted at Romeo's Rundle Mall store in November where local producers donated strawberries, with 100% of each sale for the day supporting the Childhood Cancer Association.

Childhood Cancer Ambassadors, Jodie Oddy and Tara Knight participated in a fun cheesecake decorating competition, judged by Masterchef's Callum Hann, while our volunteers were busy selling merchandise and taking donations.

Then to follow it up, in December, at the launch of the SA Cherry Season at the SA Produce Markets a charity auction by NCRE was held to sell-off the first box of cherries to the highest bidder. Successfully reaching $31,000, 100% of this auction was given to the Childhood Cancer Association, and also crowned the 2020 South Australian Cherry King.

Together, these two events raised more than $34,000 to provide accommodation, educational support and professional counselling services to local families who receive a devastating childhood cancer diagnosis.
