Nutrition Project
We are currently funding a two year nutrition project to improve access to nutrition care and nutritional outcomes and experiences of patients and families during and after their treatment.
About Our Nutrition Pilot Project
Women’s and Children’s Hospital (WCH) Dietitians Rachel Battersby and Phoebe Webster are currently working on a project within the WCH Michael Rice Centre for Haematology Oncology, looking at improving the nutritional care during patients’ treatment journeys.
Rachel and Phoebe are developing and implementing a nutrition care protocol that aims to improve access to nutritional care and nutritional outcomes and experiences of patients and families during and after their treatment.
The project also involves the development of nutrition information resources for patients and families.
Rachel and Phoebe have begun engaging with all families on diagnosis to provide information and reassurance regarding nutrition throughout treatment.
The project began in June 2025 and will run for two years. The nutrition protocol and nutrition information resources will be evaluated before being integrated into routine care.
Who Can Access Dietician Support?
Newly diagnosed families are already being offered access to dietitian support.
If you are interested in learning more about this project, please speak with your treating team who can assist you with a referral to this service.
