Respite Accommodation

Bradley’s Place

Bradley’s Place is respite accommodation providing families with the opportunity to take a break following cancer treatment and spend time away as a family.

Located just outside the township of Victor Harbor, Bradley’s Place is within reasonable proximity to Adelaide while near beaches and tourist attractions such as Granite Island and Urimbirra Wildlife Park.

Who Can Access Bradley’s Place?

Families referred to the Childhood Cancer Association can stay at Bradley’s Place for up to 10 nights per calendar year, subject to availability. The accommodation is for immediate family only.

Families remain eligible to stay at Bradley’s Place for five (5) years after their child’s diagnosis or date of relapse.

About Bradley’s Place

Features of Bradley’s Place include:

  • Three bedrooms with one queen size bed, two bunk beds with trundles (six single beds in total), a freestanding cot and a port-a-cot. Linen is not included with the cots, but all other linen is provided.
  • Games room including a PlayStation
  • Playground (fully fenced)
  • Outdoor entertaining and BBQ area
  • Central heating and cooling, washer, dryer, iron, full kitchen facilities, Nespresso coffee machine
  • Access ramps
  • Onsite car parking
  • Access your streaming services (e.g. Netflix, Disney+)
  • Personal alarm system for access to SA Ambulance Service

Thanks to the generosity of the local community, vouchers to some Victor Harbor attractions are donated to families staying at Bradley’s Place.

Bradley’s Place was kindly donated to the Childhood Cancer Association by Neil and Robyn Walker, who lost their son Bradley to cancer in 1991, at the age of four. 

The Walkers, along with their fundraising group (the Six State Challenge Team) decided to raise funds to build a respite home for the Childhood Cancer Association, so that families have a special place to take a break from cancer treatment, or spend time as a family during palliative care or bereavement. 

Bradley’s Place was opened in 2004.
